Gaming musician and soundsmith Richard Joseph died yesterday aged 53. He was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year. The BAFTA award winner worked on the music and sound effects for many games which were later ported to the Archimedes, including Cannon Fodder, Sensible Soccer, The Chaos Engine, Magic Pockets, and Gods.
Joseph was one of the pioneers of games audio, with his compositions noted for featuring contemporary pop artists (such as Betty Boo in Magic Pockets) and using interactive music (The Chaos Engine) that adapted according to the gameplay.

I always liked how the music changed in Cannon Fodder when being attacked or mounting an attack. It was one of the better examples of music in games. |

I don't remember any in-game music in Cannon Fodder at all, just the title and inter-level stuff.
Some day I must have another go at trying to complete that. |

Some day I must have another go at trying to complete that. Yes. hours of fun. I never completed it, but I did used to know the cheat that allowed you to skip to any level. The latter levels were rather fun.
Thinking about it, TEK1608, and Cannon Fodder have a lot of similarities. |

I'm quite shocked, his music techniques were amazing and caused us quite a headache when re-constructing the music for the RO version of Chaos Engine.
One of my heros. Rest in peace Richard. |
